Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Harringay
Man and a Van Harringay is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical, transparent, and responsible manner. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our operations and supply chains. We recognise that the transportation and logistics sector can be exposed to labour risks, and we take our responsibilities seriously.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This policy applies to everyone who works for us or on our behalf, including employees, agency staff, contractors, and suppliers. We will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation involved in modern slavery or related abuses, and we reserve the right to terminate relationships where non-compliance is identified.
All staff engaged by Man and a Van Harringay are required to work voluntarily, are free to leave employment in accordance with their contractual terms, and must receive fair pay for their work. We do not tolerate any practices that involve coercion, debt bondage, withholding of identification documents, or any form of physical or psychological abuse.
Our Supply Chain Standards
Although our supply chain is relatively limited and primarily local, we recognise that risks can exist at any level. We expect our suppliers, subcontractors, and other business partners to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to operate in accordance with applicable laws and recognised labour standards.
We seek to work only with reputable suppliers who can demonstrate that they uphold safe working conditions, respect workers’ rights, and have appropriate policies and procedures to identify and address modern slavery risks. Our agreements and purchase decisions take into account ethical conduct alongside price, quality, and reliability.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Man and a Van Harringay is developing and implementing proportionate due diligence procedures to assess and manage the risk of modern slavery within our supply chain. This includes requesting information from suppliers about their employment practices and their own supply chains, and reviewing relevant policies and statements where available.
Where we identify higher-risk categories of goods or services, we may undertake more detailed checks and request additional assurances. We reserve the right to conduct audits or request external verification regarding a supplier’s compliance with modern slavery and labour standards. Failure to cooperate with these measures or to meet our expectations may result in the review or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, contractors, and suppliers to speak up if they have any concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices connected to Man and a Van Harringay. Reports can be made to line managers or senior management, and we will treat all concerns seriously and, where possible, confidentially.
No one will suffer any retaliation or detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated. We will investigate credible allegations promptly and take appropriate action, including notifying relevant authorities where required.
Training and Awareness
We are working to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among those in our organisation who are involved in recruitment, supplier selection, and day-to-day operations. This may include guidance on recognising indicators of exploitation, understanding reporting procedures, and appreciating our legal and ethical obligations.
By promoting awareness, we aim to ensure that staff can identify potential risks in the course of their duties and respond appropriately and responsibly.
Monitoring, Accountability, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the leadership of Man and a Van Harringay, who are accountable for ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures, and controls are in place and effective. We monitor our operations and supplier relationships to identify areas for improvement and to respond to emerging risks.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually, and more frequently if required by changes in legislation, our business model, or identified risks. Any updates will reflect our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in preventing modern slavery and protecting the rights and dignity of all workers associated with our business.
Man and a Van Harringay remains dedicated to operating as a responsible business and to playing its part in the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
